Moon Magus AR

I started messing around in Adobe Aero to create AR with some of my artwork, and I’m amazed at how easy it is to use.

This is just messing around with some basic stock graphics, but it’s pretty easy to make really complex scenes. It’s hard to control the movement exactly unless you animate the model in a different program.

Anyway, here is AR Moon Magus, (aka Thoth and the Moon/Sun Dogs) along with the Sun, Moon, and Mercury (and a cute lil cloud). You’ll need to be able to download the Adobe Aero app to a mobile device to view it in AR. The AR version features (semi-)realistic planetary motion. It could be used as a meditation tool, an altar, or an aid in spellcasting.

(My devices don’t support the “irl” functions of Aero, so please give me your feedback and screenshots if you’re able to open this!)

A screenshot from the Adobe Aero preview. A 3D-layered drawing of a man with a Baboon head and ornate wings is on a grid background. A large low-poly red and yellow sun is in the far background, with a small photorealistic planet mercury orbiting it. There is a large low-poly yellow crescent moon orbiting the main figure, and a large low-poly white cloud floats between the moon and the main figure. Above the baboon's head are two gold 3d symbols: an exclamation point and a fan-shaped wifi signal symbol.
Clicking the link to the AR scene animates this image - the main illustration is layered with duplicate images in yellow, cyan and purple, and it bounces toward the viewer in a slow breathing motion (it can be tapped to enlarge and shrink back down). The exclamation mark and wifi symbol and bounce independently, and the wifi symbol slowly grows larger. The tiny planet mercury orbits the sun every 8 seconds in a counterclockwise motion. The sun gently moves back and forth from the viewer, and spins radially every 3 seconds. The moon orbits the main figure every 3.5 seconds and stays tidally locked. The cloud slowly floats from the left side of the screen to the right, and back, every 30 seconds or so.

If you’re interested in the backstory behind this drawing, I made a post about it here. It is quite magickal (;

Also, if you happen to have a print I also made a version that works by pointing your device at the Moon Magus print itself.
